Cost of Care

Our advanced facility is staffed by skilled emergency doctors with a well-trained team of licensed veterinary technicians, veterinary assistants and nurses who all work together to meet your pet’s needs and provide advanced patient care 365 days a year. Our equipment, technology and training are state-of-the-art and are routinely upgraded as technology improves. We understand your pet is an important member of your family and will strive to provide exceptional care at a reasonable cost.

Just like any human emergency room or trauma center, a modern veterinary emergency hostiptal requires more extensive equipment than found in a typical daytime practice. In addition, operating an emergency practice requires a uniquely trained staff working long and difficult hours. As a result, the overhead in operating an emergency hospital is greater than a normal veterinary hospital. This is reflected in fees which may be somewhat higher than your regular veterinarian, but are comparable with all other emergency centers.

Estimation of Cost

Once your pet has been evaluated by one of our doctors, you will receive an assessment of your pet’s treatment options, and an estimation of the cost allowing you to make an informed decision on how to proceed with your pet’s care. Due to the unpredictable nature of some conditions the course of treatment and outcome as well as costs, cannot be fully predicted. We will make every effort to keep you informed of the additional care and associated cost in the event that services exceed the original treatment plan.

Please share all of your questions and concerns regarding costs with your doctor or technician before treatment begins. To minimize misunderstandings, it is important that your medical team have a clear understanding of your wishes before any course of treatment is undertaken.

Payment

Because emergency clinics lack ongoing relationships with clients, and experience has shown that a significant number of clients at emergency centers failed to pay balances as promised, it is not financially possible for our hospital to allow billing. This is the current policy at all emergency centers in Michigan, as well as being the prevalent policy throughout the United States. The extent of care given to any animal is determined by its owner, the value they place on their pet, and their financial resources. As there are no government subsidies or other programs covering veterinary care, emergency hospitals would end up operating at a loss and closing without satisfactory financial arrangements. It would be unfair to demand service at any business without guaranteeing payment. Our staff is, however, very willing to work with you to provide care within your budget.

We require full payment at the time a treatment plan is agreed upon. Any balance incurred during your pet’s stay will be expected at the time of discharge. Our hospital is happy to accept cash, checks, debit cards, Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover and Care Credit.

We accept the following forms of payment:

We also accept cash and Personal checks as long as the checkwriter is present with appropriate identification and the check can be approved through Telecheck.

With nearly 40 years of experience, TeleCheck provides our clients with safe and secure electronic check payment services.
